CSR Procurement Policy
Based on our ESG Activity Policy, Konoike Construction promotes procurement activities that take CSR into consideration in cooperation with our business partners.
- We comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and social norms in the regions where we operate.
- Through procurement activities, we address social issues such as human rights, labor, and environmental concerns.
- We conduct transparent, fair, and equitable procurement by comprehensively evaluating quality, price, schedule, safety, environment, management capability, ESG elements, and other factors in concern.
- From project initiation to completion, and follow-up service after project, we closely work with our business partners to provide quality and safety for our customers.
- We strive to build trust-based relationships with our business partners and aim for mutual prosperity.
To promote our CSR Procurement Policy, it is essential to work together with all our business partners to respond to the broad demands of society. Therefore, we request your enhanced efforts in the following areas, as we work together to improve corporate value and achieve sustainable growth.
We also request you to notify your business partners of the following matters and encourage them to implement these practices.
1. Fairness and Equity
Make sure to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and other social norms in the regions where you operate and conduct fair and equitable transactions.
- In order to prevent violation of laws and regulations relevant to your business, constantly be updated with the latest information and ensure that they are thoroughly communicated and implemented within your organization.
- In accordance with competition laws and antitrust laws in each country, implement fair and transparent transactions without engaging in bribery, improper profit provision, anti-competitive activities, etc.
- Avoid any direct or indirect relationships with criminal organizations, terrorist organizations, groups involved in money laundering, other organizations engaged in illegal activities, or organizations subject to international sanctions.
2. Human Rights and Labor
Prevent human rights violations such as unfair discrimination and any type of harassment, and implement appropriate labor management.
- Respect the personality, dignity, and diversity of employees and strive to build an inclusive workplace.
- Comply with the laws and regulations of each country and respect international human rights standards (such as ILO (International Labour Organization) conventions and the UN Global Compact) to prevent discrimination based on race, religion, nationality, age, gender, disability, or other factors.
- Prevent all forms of harassment in the workplace (including sexual harassment, power harassment, and other forms of bullying).
- In accordance with labor laws in each country, appropriately manage working hours, rest periods, holidays, and working conditions, and pay wages properly. Where international labor standards, such as those represented by the ILO, exceed local legal requirements, you are expected to respect international labor standards.
3. Environment
Comply with relevant laws and regulations in the countries where business is conducted, and where raw materials are procured. Respect international environmental standards, and promote environmentally responsible materials and construction methods that prevent environmental harm.
Please pay special attention to the following matters:
- Proper management and use of chemical substances
- Sustainable and efficient use of resources (energy, water, raw materials, etc.)
- Promotion of climate change mitigation, such as greenhouse gas emission reduction
- Proper management and reduction of waste materials, and promotion of recycling and reuse
- Conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of resources
4. Health and Safety
Manage safety risks in surrounding areas to prevent occupational accidents during construction activities, and promote the improvement of workers' physical and mental well-being in the workplace.
- Implement appropriate disaster prevention activities and health management based on local laws and health and safety plans.
5. Quality
Ensure required quality and strive for further improvement in customer satisfaction.
- Clarify quality managers and establish an appropriate quality management system.
- Provide continuous education and training of employees and improvement of technical capabilities.
- Work with the supply chain to ensure stable and sustainable supply of products and services.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to defects or complaints during and after project implementation.
6. Information Security
Provide proper protection and management of confidential information, personal information, and customer information relevant to business with our company in accordance with applicable laws and privacy and data protection standards established in projects, and thoroughly prevent information leakage.
- Thoroughly manage authentication information (IDs, passwords, etc.) safely.
- Do not disclose confidential information or personal information on social media, the Internet, etc. without authorization.
- Apply the latest versions of antivirus software and various security patches to computers and other information terminals that handle project information.
- Immediately report when any information security incident (information leakage, unauthorized access, etc.) is detected.
7. Business Continuity During Disasters and Other Events
Develop business continuity plans (BCP) and establish management systems to continuously support customers and relevant organizations during natural disasters, pandemics, or other crisis events.
- Prioritize the safety of employees and their families' lives, while striving to minimize damage to business facilities and supply systems and achieve early recovery.
- Establish plans to prepare for various risks such as natural disasters, pandemics, cyber-attacks, and political instability. Verify BCP effectiveness and make improvements through regular training and exercises.
